Look Good Feel Better for Men

June is men’s Health Month and to coincide with this Look Good Feel Better are launching their men’s classes online, using Zoom video.

Look Good Feel Better has had a lot of success with the live online video women’s classes launched earlier this year. These 1-hour classes cover skincare & makeup, wigs & headwear or scarf tying.

However, Cherie, Programme Development & Training Manager says “we have learnt the offer of skincare advice is not necessarily a man’s ‘feel better moment’’ and they need something different. The online classes will include a guest speaker and an opportunity to interact with them.”

We have been fortunate enough to get the support of a diverse mix of NZ men and women: including TV and sporting personalities, experts in fields to support the changes experienced due to cancer treatment, and other men and women with inspiring stories to tell. They will share their advice or story to kick off the class. There will then be chance for the audience to ask questions – this is a rare and exclusive opportunity we hope will give each man their ‘feel better’ moment.

The first class is on Saturday 4th July at 4pm, with well-known TV chef and restaurateur Simon Gault. He will be talking how after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, he completely changed his relationship with food to be healthier, sleeping better and have more energy to be an active Dad.

The schedule also includes Dion Nash, who will be sharing some of his highlights being a Black Cap, as well as practical tips on how to protect and care for your skin, being the founder of his own skincare range. Jeremy Burfoot, a Qantas A380 captain, father of three, and a competitive cyclist who has beaten cancer twice. He will talk about despite having a successful career and great life, how he successfully dealt with setbacks.

The second part of the class will be led by a trained LGFB facilitator who will give advice and practical tips for men to care for their skin, hair, body and well-being as they manage the side effects of their cancer treatment. Every man who joins a class will receive a pack of specially selected skincare that has been donated by the charity’s sponsors. To some men these products will be a totally new experience, but we have seen that once tried or when they see other men using them, then they are grateful for being given the opportunity to look after themselves.

All LGFB classes are free and open to men and women who are undergoing cancer treatment. Please visit our website to find our more or register https://lgfb.co.nz/classes/for-men/ or call our helpline on 0800 865 432
